measuring life

"Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You . . . ."
(Psalm 39:5 NKJV)

For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. . . ." (James 4:14 NKJV)

Like the fragrant mist rising from a cup of gourmet coffee . . . .that is the span of human life. Seems insignificant, useless, invaluable. But, yielded to Him, the aroma of one life can reflect the essence of Christ -- love and service. Just as I like to lean over my mug and inhale the spice of Southern Toasted Pecan coffee with cream, a life well lived will draw others close to enjoy the flavor it exudes.

So much is packed into our lives that it's easy to forget its brevity. It zooms by, one week disappearing into the next. That's why I want to make sure that, in the calm, sane moments, my surrender is strong and my focus is clear. If I do life any other way, that brief puff of steam will evaporate into eternity wasted on self. It's only when He is the center that I can be sure what I do will last beyond the moment and the mist of my life will be exchanged for the stratosphere of heaven.

ministry continues

Our family has made a move this summer and now serving a church family in southern Indiana. Change is as enduring as the rising and setting of the sun, and God's grace goes before and behind and continues to fill our lives with His love. He's a wonderful Father.
